New 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge
I've been like a pinball bouncing back and forth between this blog and my blog on my website. I have known I needed to light on one and stay there. It's just that they both have features I like. However, I've decided to only use the one on my website.
I'll be doing another of Leslie Saeta's 30 Paintings in 30 Days challenge beginning September 1. Only a few days away! I've chosen some specific challenges for the 30 days which you can read about here if you'd like. Anyway, all the paintings completed for the challenge and any other paintings will be found on that blog.
Thank you for following this blog over my sporadic posting! If you would like to see what I'm up to you can follow me by clicking on the rss feed button here. I promise to be more consistent going forward!

This was painted yesterday, on my third outdoor painting excursion of the year. It was 75 degrees and sunny. Today it's snowing and we are supposed to get 6 inches of the stuff! April in Wyoming.

Spring Run Off on Muddy Creek
I finally got outside to paint yesterday, right in my backyard. It was so nice! Meadowlarks were singing, Peepers were peeping and the Red Wing Blackbirds were chiming in. I spooked two White Tail deer in the process of getting set up. The sun was warm and there was only a little breeze of about 20 mph. Not too bad for the last day of March!
Here's my painting and the scene itself. This one will be heading to Deselms Fine Art in Cheyenne soon.

The Cow Crew
I haven't posted in awhile. I've been working on this 12x36 painting of cow faces. It is close to what I had in mind, but I may have to try this again sometime. Sure do love their expressions!

Up With The Sun
This is one of my all time favorite paintings I've done. It's a simple scene and very typical of rural Wyoming. I've tried to capture the same feel a few times without much success, but I know I'll try again before long.

Mountain Snow
This is one of my favorite snow scenes. I love the bouncing reflected light and the warm color of the grasses against the cool snow colors.

#44 Snow Day
It's a snow day here, and after two failed attempts at a still life with a new white plate I got at the dollar store, I had the bright idea of painting something I could see out my window! Here it is.

I think I've painted these guys separately, but not together for quite awhile. I love the curious looks.

#40 Quiet Time
I painted this a little while ago, but needed to make some adjustments, which I didn't get to until today. That's why the numbers are out of sequence. It's the same longhorn mama and calf as the other. Hope you like it!

#42 Swan Challenge
Another challenge from the DPW. It was a Valentine's challenge about animals that mate for life. Apparently swans are some that fit that category and besides that, they're so beautiful!

#41 Barn Challenge
When you don't know what to paint, it's fun to find the weekly challenge on DPW and go with that! Here's a barn that was on there. I cropped the scene to fit the 6x6 format and may crop it again in a different way just to see what happens.

#38 Longhorn Mama and Calf
Our neighbors a few miles west of us have some Longhorns. Beautiful animals! I got some photos a few years ago in the summer and came across them today. Had to paint some!

#36 Let Me In!
One day when I was painting at home, my dog startled me by ferociously growling at the front door. Kind of scared me. We live in the country and he doesn't usually react that way to visitors. He's usually thrilled when someone shows up, so needless to say, I was a little hesitant to open the door. But when I did, I found this was who had come to visit! There was Riley, the dog, growling on the inside of the storm door and Mr. Goat, adamantly stomping his foot as if to say, "Let me in!"

#34 Shady Lady
This little lady was next door, hanging out with some other heifers. I snapped this view of her when she had her head down snooping at Riley, the dog. By zooming in on her face, the surrounding legs and shadows created a fairly abstract background.

Overcast Interior
I'm not used to painting interior scenes, but have wanted to try some, so here's the first of possibly many. Or possibly not so many. It's where I was, with a bit of time to give it a try. The day was overcast, inside was cozy.

Bad Hair Day
We have Pelicans in Wyoming, which I thought was odd when I first moved here. (We also have sea gulls, also odd). I love to watch the Pelicans soar on a draft high in the sky, but this one was waiting for some fish in the river.

Collage of 30 Days (Almost)
Here's a collage of 25 of the 30 paintings - I couldn't figure out how to get them all on, but this isn't too bad. It has been lots of fun!
I've been re-inspired by all the work I've seen and done. (Today I'm painting the studio and revamping my work space. Nothing like a fresh look to reward myself with)! Then, on to more daily painting!

Day 30 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days
And for the final day of the challenge, I decided to paint this little porch with it's sunshine and roses. I painted it from a larger plein air painting I did a few years ago. Something to remind us Spring is coming.

Day 29 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days
We're down to the last couple for this challenge. I hope it's been as much fun for you as it has for me! Now that I feel like I'm in the swing of it, I'm going to try to keep it up for as long as I can.
